Planeprinter wish list

I belive everybody in the Ready Room know Roman Troyan as he became the main third party suppliers for Blood Red Skies fans. He is with us for - as far I remember - three years. Since Sep 2020 he launched hundrets of 1/200 warplanes projects (and counting) which are known from its top quality. His models are both scale respecting and robust which means best fitted to our game.

As the original Blood Red Skies supplier doesn't spoil BRS players with a new models, the perspectives for independent designers as Roman are optimistic. Having many projects done, someone (as me) would ask what next? Which projects are hot, what kind of models are the most awaited by the players? That's why I decided to run small survey on our Readyroom group and collect some feedback. So here are the results:

37 the number of different projects named by respondents. As the Roman launching one model a week it is an inspiration for nine months.

3 the most awaited projects gathered 20% of all responses and - I think - they are worth to consider.

The winner

Spitfire Mk XIV grabbed the highest number of votes. There are some reasons to have one more Spitfire in own collection.

  • Spitfire Mk XIV is the only fighter plane from the original RAF expansion pack without model available.
  • We need Spitfire Mk XIV as a top speed and great climb late war RAF fighter
  • Spitfire Mk XIV is different from the Spitfire family (engine cowling, wing shape)

 Number two

... also Spitfire, but Mk IX. Someone would say. This is too much! There is the Mk IX Spitfire in the main supplier portfolio. Ups, not anymore. As the Warlord closing metal ranges (at last!) the hitherto Spitfire was withrown but haven't replaced with new resin yet. So why we need the Mk IX Spitfire?

  • Spitfire Mk IX was widely used on the different theatres (from England, through Africa, Russia to Far East) by the different users (British, Australian, American and even Soviets)
  • Spitife Mk IX has a great deal in our game combining turning and climbing features
  • Spitfire Mk IX is not available and relaunch date of resin replacement from Warlord isn't known

 Number three

This time something different: at the third location we have medium bomber Douglas A20 Boston. Someone could viciously (as me) say: for hell's sake the next two engine bomber model if it is only marker without point value (regardless if it is Robust or Vulnerable trait). IMO the Air to surfaces missions (using bombers need to be rethink) for the 2nd edition.

Apart of that there are some reasons why it is nice to have Boston A20 in our collection:

  • A20 was widely used on the different theatres (from England, through Africa, Russia to Far East) by the different users (British, Australian, American and even Soviets)
  • It is nice to have more bombers in the hangar and pick up one better fitting to the particular mission

Apart from the top three, there are some other recemendations for Roman's new projects. Let present them in the groups

Models for subscription lovers:

We found on the wish list some projects available already in different 3rd party suppliers portfolios as Spitfire Mk V, P51B/C Mustang. Having access to such projects in the subscription model (as Roman offer) is an advantage for the subscription users.

Niche variants:

Some of us would like to see niche variants of already present models (to have some specific markings for their beloved planes). In this range we can found P40F, Hurricane Mk IIc (without tropical filter), A26 Invader, SB2U Vindicator and Hurricane Mk I

Missing projects:

There are also some projects that have published plane cards but models are not available (the same story as Spitfire Mk XIV). In this range we can found Bf109K, Avro Lancaster (maybe the model present would encourage Andy to run some night fighting rules one day?). To this group we could add Re.2000 which is not official (without card) but would be valuable add on for the Italian or Hungarian army.

Models for replacement lovers:

There is also group of models that are no longer available or are available but with no sufficient quality. In this group we can found Blenheim Mk IV (run by Zvezda but this model is too simplified) and Beaufighter Mk VI unavailable (thank God they withrow this bloody metal). Additionally Mk VI give me opportunity to make proper Polish 307 NF squadron models of Beaufighters.

Additionally at the long tail we could find some interesting projects as: N1K1-J IMO: the best Japaneese fighter in our game or Douglas 8A-3N very important project for our admin (Roman please consider), or last from the Yak family: Yak-9

As you can see plenty of inspirations and I hope Roman will use them and will do it wisely.
